Ashley Overby, viola | April 3, 2021 | University of Alabama
Miklós Rózsa Viola Concerto, Op. 37
This recital was a bit of a last minute call, as I had a colleague who had a family emergency and couldn’t play. Despite the short turnaround, Ashley’s DMA recital was quite successful and a really fun first experience with the Rózsa. I hope Ashley and I can work together again sometime.
Ian Jeffress and Matt Younglove, saxophones | This is This is This is (2010) by Eric Wubbels | Western Carolina University, February 2020
This was the last public performance I was involved in before Covid-19 closed live venues, schools, and universities down. At the time we had no idea that live performance would be so affected by the virus.
It was such a wonderful collaboration with friends and colleagues — reconnecting with fellow USC alumni! — amidst a very stressful time. (I was also finishing my doctoral research paper during this time.)
